Strengthening Credibility with 'Recommendations and Dating Preference Tests'
Strengthening Credibility with 'Recommendations and Dating Preference Tests'
[Financial News] It was found that the younger generation values personality and values more than appearance when choosing a romantic partner. Dating app users preferred serious relationships over casual encounters, but in actual experience, there was a lot of attrition due to trust issues.
Saramin announced on the 20th that its dating app 'Begins' conducted a dating trend survey targeting 553 people in their 20s and 30s, and the results were as follows. According to this, 43.8% of respondents cited personality as the most important factor in dating, and 26% chose values. Only 17.5% of responses prioritized appearance. This is interpreted as reflecting a trend that values internal qualities more than external conditions.
36.9% of respondents had experience using dating apps. They valued 'self-introduction content' (41.2%) the most in the other person's profile, followed by 'profile picture (27.9%)', and 'hobbies and interests (12.7%)'. Additionally, regarding the purpose of using the app, over 60% of both men (58.8%) and women (62.6%) chose 'serious romantic partner'.
However, 83.3% of those who had used the app at least once said they are not currently using it. The most common reason for leaving was 'users seeking casual encounters' (33.5%), followed by 'fake profiles (12.4%)' and 'concerns about personal information exposure (12.4%)'. Respondents (349 people) who had never used the app also cited 'because it seems like it would not be a serious meeting (31.8%)' as the biggest reason.
A representative from Begins said, “Through this survey, we were able to clearly confirm the market demand that the 2030 generation wants serious meetings based on trust rather than casual relationships.”
Begins plans to reflect the survey results in its service, enhancing the 'recommendation function' where acquaintances vouch for profiles and write recommendations, and strengthening value-based matching based on the 'Bloom Dating Preference Test' in which more than 430,000 people participated. A representative from Begins stated, “We will increase brand credibility based on the preference for 'serious meetings' and 'verified partners', and provide matching services tailored to various purposes such as dating and making friends.”
Begins is a dating app launched by Saramin, which has increased profile credibility through its own developed tests, face authentication, and company/school authentication, and offers a 'blind chat' function that prioritizes conversation over appearance.
