[Financial News] The Small and Medium Business Corporation announced on the 18th that it signed an agreement to support deep tech startups with the Polsky Center under the University of Chicago in the United States on the 12th (local time).
The University of Chicago Polsky Center is a world-class deep tech incubator that has produced over 600 innovative companies and attracted more than $10 billion (approximately 14 trillion won) in investments. It operates specialized incubation programs in future core areas such as quantum technology, artificial intelligence (AI), and cleantech, connecting professors, companies, students, and local communities.
This agreement was prepared to promote the entry of Korean startups into the US market, based on the global startup ecosystem creation MOU signed by both sides in 2022. Specifically, it supports the entire process of global entry from the initial establishment stage to commercialization, including △deep tech field incubation △expert network support △local market business validation.
Korean startups are provided with customized coaching and mentoring, as well as infrastructure such as laboratories. The plan is to expand opportunities for local business validation and global investment attraction through a network of over 40,000 mentors and investors.
Johan Gyo, Director of Human Resources Growth at Jungjinkong, said, “This agreement is an important opportunity for Korean startups to directly connect with the world's top-level deep tech ecosystem,” adding, “We will continue to actively expand global partnerships so that startups can grow beyond borders.”
