Kim Geon-hee, Jipsa, Geonjin, Appear at Special Prosecutor Today... Will There Be a Stormy Confrontation?

According to the Kim Geon-hee special prosecutor team (Min Jung-gi special prosecutor), they will be summoned to the special prosecutor's office set up at the KT Gwanghwamun Building West in Jongno-gu at 10 a.m. on this day. Mrs. Kim will be investigated for the second time since her arrest, having refused to testify in most parts during the first investigation on the 14th.

The special prosecutor's team plans to focus on whether there was any wrongdoing in the process of IMS Mobility, in which Mr. Kim holds shares, receiving an investment of 18.4 billion won from Kakao Mobility, Shinhan Bank, and HS Hyosung in 2023. Since the company was in a state of capital erosion at the time, the investigation team is examining the possibility that the companies provided funds in consideration of the relationship between Mr. Kim and Mrs. Kim. Mr. Kim has already been arrested on charges of embezzlement under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Economic Crimes, with allegations of embezzling 3.38 billion won through a borrowed-name corporation specified in the warrant.

Mr. Jeon is accused of receiving a diamond necklace and a Chanel bag from Mr. Yoon, the former head of the Unification Church's World Headquarters, in 2022, and then delivering them to Mrs. Kim. However, he claimed during the prosecution's investigation that he lost the items and could not deliver them.

As the three figures appear simultaneously, there is a possibility of a confrontation in parts where their testimonies conflict. Mrs. Kim maintains her stance that she is unrelated to the allegations, and Mr. Kim also denies any connection with Mrs. Kim.

The special prosecutor also plans to arrest and prosecute Mr. Lee, who played another broker role. Mr. Yoon is charged with violating the Anti-Graft Act, and Mr. Lee is charged with receiving a bribe for mediation.
