[Financial News] The Korea Transportation Safety Authority (TS) has embarked on public-private cooperation to guarantee mobility rights in underserved areas and build a future mobility ecosystem.
TS announced on the 17th that it signed a 'Business Agreement for Mobility Innovation Based on Public Transportation Data' with Hyundai Motor and Kia at the Hyundai Motor Gangnam-daero Building in Gangnam-gu, Seoul on the 14th.
Under this agreement, TS and Hyundai Motor and Kia will collaborate to solve transportation issues in various regions, including depopulated areas, and aim to guarantee the mobility rights of transportation-disadvantaged individuals by utilizing advanced mobility technologies and data such as AI and robotics.
Specifically, TS will provide public transportation data, including public transportation information, while Hyundai Motor and Kia will share their business operation know-how of the demand-responsive transportation solution, Shucle, and the vast data obtained in the process to promote cooperation in the field of mobility innovation. In particular, the two organizations will jointly develop and demonstrate region-specific public transportation models by analyzing the transportation conditions of the regions and will also engage in data-based cooperation that links policy proposals and system improvements based on the results.
Furthermore, TS will participate in 'NUMA', the data-based open demonstration and research system promoted by Hyundai Motor and Kia. It will also support policy suggestions and institutionalization through the demonstration and research of NUMA in the 'Mobility Innovation Forum', a public-private policy council where it serves as the secretariat.
TS plans to expand organic cooperation with private companies, local governments, and research institutions to realize people-centered transportation safety policies and lead data-based future mobility innovation.
Jung Yong-sik, Chairman of TS, said, "When public and private data are linked, regional transportation issues can be precisely diagnosed and effective solutions can be proposed," adding, "With this agreement, we will take the lead in building a sustainable and safe future mobility system together with Hyundai Motor and Kia."
