[Financial News] A man in his 40s who stalked a neighbor he had never met and engaged in sexual acts, spreading bodily fluids on the front door, has been punished.
Chuncheon District Court Criminal Division 1 Judge Song Jong-hwan sentenced A (48) to 8 months in prison with a 2-year probation for charges of violating the Stalking Punishment Act, trespassing, and public obscenity, it was announced on the 15th.
He was also ordered to attend 40 hours of lectures on probation and sexual violence treatment, as well as lectures on preventing re-offending of stalking crimes.
A was prosecuted for stalking 17 times by putting his ear to the front door of B (49)'s house, whom he had never met, listening to internal sounds, spitting on the floor in front of the door, and inserting trash into the door gap from May 24 to June 20 last year.
Investigation results showed that A committed the crime believing B had filed a complaint after being informed by an apartment management office official about a complaint regarding his stalking behavior about a year ago.
It was also included in the indictment that he lowered his pants and performed sexual acts in front of B's house, smearing bodily fluids on the front door or throwing them with his hand.
A week later, he committed the same crime in front of another 40-year-old neighbor's front door.
Judge Song stated, "It seems that the victims would have felt extreme fear due to each crime in this case," and "the victims' damage has not been fully recovered."
He continued, "Considering the fact that the defendant is making efforts to recover the victims' damage and that he is a first-time offender with no prior criminal record, the sentence was determined."
