Apologized for Mistake… Will Ensure Safety
Yonhap News

[Financial News] The police mistakenly provided the stalking suspect with the victim's address and other personal information.
Seoul Gangseo Police Station Yeomchang District announced on the 14th that they officially apologized to Mr. A, who reported stalking last month, for the personal information leak.
In the apology, the police stated, "Due to an unforeseen accident, your valuable personal information was leaked," and "We will enhance awareness through staff training to prevent similar cases from occurring."
Mr. A reportedly filed a complaint with the police for violating the Stalking Punishment Act after receiving abusive messages and calls continuously for two weeks from the suspect, a workplace colleague.
It was found that the police mistakenly sent the notification containing the victim's address to the suspect while implementing emergency measures related to stalking (residential access restriction).
After recognizing the leak, the police informed Mr. A of the fact and apologized.
A police official said, "Since the residential information was leaked to the other party, we provided the victim with a smartwatch for safety assurance and supported the installation of closed-circuit (CC) TV at the residence," adding, "We are also strengthening patrols near the residence to manage safety additionally."
