[Financial News]  The Pinkfong Company, the producer of the globally popular children's song "Baby Shark," has won the final victory in a copyright lawsuit against an American composer.
The dispute over the children's song based on Western folk songs centered on whether the sound recording claimed by the American composer as his creation constituted an original derivative work, which the Supreme Court did not recognize.
The Supreme Court's 1st Division (Presiding Judge No Tae-ak) on the 14th confirmed the lower court's ruling that dismissed the plaintiff's claim in the damages lawsuit filed by American composer Johnny Only (real name Jonathan Robert Wright) against The Pinkfong Company.
