[Financial News]  The special prosecutor team for Kim Keon-hee (Min Jung-gi, special prosecutor) notified the detained Mrs. Kim to come for an investigation on the 14th.

It is the first summons since Mrs. Kim was arrested on the night of the 12th. It is reported that Mrs. Kim's side has expressed their intention to appear at the scheduled investigation time.

According to the legal community, the special prosecutor team announced through a press release that Mrs. Kim would be summoned to the special prosecutor's office prepared at the KT Gwanghwamun Building West in Jongno-gu, Seoul, at 10 a.m. on the 14th.

The special prosecutor team explained that they received a notification from the Seoul Southern Detention Center, where Mrs. Kim is detained, that she is scheduled to appear at the designated time. This is the first summons after the arrest warrant for Mrs. Kim was issued.

Mrs. Kim is expected to leave the detention center and come to the special prosecutor's office in a Ministry of Justice transport vehicle. Initially, Mrs. Kim's side had taken a reserved stance, saying they would decide based on her health condition on the day, but eventually agreed to the investigation.

Mrs. Kim moved to the Southern Detention Center to await the results of the pre-arrest suspect interrogation (warrant review), and after the warrant was issued, she went through the formal detention process.

She was assigned the detainee number '4398' and, like other detainees, wore a remand prison uniform and held a board with her detainee number for a 'mugshot'.

It is known that she has not eaten even once since entering the detention center. Mrs. Kim's lawyer explained, "She is not in good health and is unable to eat well." Mrs. Kim's side is reportedly considering not filing a detention review to contest the necessity of her detention.

During the detention review, the special prosecutor team presented evidence unrelated to the main charges specified in the arrest warrant, but since the court issued the warrant, Mrs. Kim's side believes it is difficult to expect the detention review to be granted.

Mrs. Kim's side prepared a defense focusing on the charges of stock manipulation of Deutsche Motors, intervention in Myung Tae-kyun's nomination, and suspicions of solicitation involving Geonjin Monk and the Unification Church, but claims that the special prosecutor's presentation of the genuine and fake Van Cleef & Arpels necklace, known as the 'NATO necklace', was a kind of 'foul play'.

Mrs. Kim's side reportedly protested during the warrant review, saying, "Submitting such evidence violates the adversarial principle of the Criminal Procedure Act and severely infringes on the right to legal assistance."

On the other hand, the special prosecutor team reportedly emphasized that since the court decides on the detention based on a comprehensive judgment of the circumstances before and after the alleged facts and the relationship with accomplices, they can present evidence in court even if it is not specified in the warrant.theknight@fnnews.com Jeong Kyung-soo Reporter
