【Financial News Incheon=Han Gapsu Reporter】 With heavy rain hitting the Incheon area, train operations on some sections of the Gyeongin Line were temporarily suspended, and there was damage such as flooding of houses and roads.
According to Incheon City, Incheon Fire Department, etc., as of the 13th, the accumulated rainfall from midnight to 10 a.m. was 200.1㎜ in Ongjin-gun Deokjeok-myeon, 101.4㎜ in Ganghwa-gun Buleun-myeon, and 81.5㎜ in Seo-gu Geumgok-dong, with more than 100㎜ of rain per hour forecasted in the Yeongjong area.
Due to the heavy rain, train operations on the Gyeongin Line from Juan Station in Michuhol-gu, Incheon City to Bupyeong Station in Bupyeong-gu were suspended for 1 hour and 5 minutes around 11:10 a.m. As the rain subsided, operations on the Gyeongin Line resumed around 12:15 p.m.
Also, due to flooding at Bakchon Station on Incheon Urban Railway Line 1, both directions are passing through Bakchon Station without stopping since 11:56 a.m.
The heavy rain resulted in a total of 210 reports of damage filed with the city fire department and district offices (as of 1 p.m.).
Many underpasses and roads, including the entrance road to Wolmi-do 2-ga 5-4 in Bukseong-dong, Unnam-dong Pureunnarae underpass, Cheongna International underpass, Cheongcheon Intersection, Galsan Station Intersection, and around Hyoseong Guldari, were flooded.
Incheon City sent out a safety alert message to citizens, advising them to report non-emergency civil complaints to 120 and urgent disaster reports to 119 as 119 emergency call lines were overwhelmed due to the heavy rain around 12 p.m.
An official from Incheon Transit Corporation said, "Due to flooding at Bakchon Station on Incheon Line 1, both directions are passing through without stopping. Please take note when using the train."
