[Financial News] The Kyobo Art Space, an exhibition space within the bookstore, announced on the 13th that it will hold a two-person exhibition 'Shape of Abstraction' until the 14th of next month.
Oriental painter Lee So-jung and Western painter Lee Jae are participating in this exhibition, which poses the question 'How should we view abstract painting?'.
Abstract painting is generally divided into two directions: a method of refining and condensing visual experiences, and a method of creating pure forms without relying on experience. Lee So-jung varies the former approach in her own way, while Lee Jae varies the latter approach.
Lee So-jung has been exploring the material properties of materials and working based on brushstrokes created by chance. At one time, she controlled 'chance' according to a painting manual she created herself, but after going through childbirth and parenting, she came to accept unplanned forms. New works completed through this transitional period are unveiled in this exhibition.
Lee Jae has continued a free composition of the screen, crossing the boundaries of figuration and abstraction. His abstract paintings convey a sense of human voice or energy even in screens where concrete objects or figures have disappeared. This exhibition showcases works from various periods, focusing on free brushstrokes and chance.
Located at the center of Gwanghwamun Kyobo Bookstore, Kyobo Art Space is an exhibition space that breaks the boundaries between culture and daily life, encouraging visitors to 'come to buy books and also see paintings'. 'Shape of Abstraction' also offers an experience that adds the colors of art to the scent of books in the bookstore.
