[Financial News] The police discussed ways to apply and develop artificial intelligence (AI) semiconductor technology in the security field.
The National Police Agency announced on the 13th that it held the 'AI Semiconductor-Based Future Security Innovation Technology Strategy Seminar' at the National Police Agency in Seodaemun-gu, Seoul.
The seminar was attended by officials from the Ministry of Science and ICT, the Defense Acquisition Program Administration, the Police Policy Institute, and experts from the Institute of Information & Communications Technology Planning & Evaluation (IITP), Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI), Korea Research Institute for Defense Technology Planning and Advancement (KRIT), and the Telecommunications Technology Association (TTA), with about 60 participants.
In the first part of the seminar, domestic and international technology trends and application cases of AI semiconductors were shared. In the second part, seven planning projects derived from the working group meeting were introduced.
The National Police Agency launched the 'Security AI Semiconductor Working Group' last May and through more than 10 meetings, derived projects such as △Smart AI Backpack for Police Officers △Interactive 'AI Polyphone' △AI Profiler △AI Rapid Drug Detection Kit.
Each project focuses on enhancing the response capabilities and efficiency of the security field by utilizing the high-speed computation, low-power processing, and real-time analysis functions of AI semiconductors.
The National Police Agency explained that there was high interest from field police officers in some projects. AI security body cams and smart glasses recognize dangerous situations and support field evidence collection and real-time analysis. The AI Rapid Drug Detection Kit is equipped with a drug component detection algorithm.
Choi Juwon, Director of the Future Security Policy Bureau at the National Police Agency, said, "We will derive mid- to long-term projects for the introduction of future security innovation technologies, such as establishing technology strategies applicable to the field and discovering demonstration-centered projects."
