[Financial News] On the 13th, heavy rain reminiscent of the monsoon season is pouring in the central region.
The Korea Meteorological Administration stated on the 13th, "A stationary front formed due to the expansion of the North Pacific High and the influence of Typhoon No. 11 Bavi is causing heavy rain as it passes through the central region."
A strong wind belt in the lower atmosphere (1.5 km altitude) is formed at the front of a mid-scale low-pressure system developed on the stationary front, supplying a large amount of moisture, resulting in a deluge in the capital area and Gangwon region.
Since dawn, more than 60mm of heavy rain per hour has been pouring in the areas of Anseong and Yongin in Gyeonggi Province. As of 7 a.m., a heavy rain advisory is in effect for the northern and southern parts of the capital area and the western coast of northern Chungnam, with heavy rain of 10~60mm per hour continuing in those areas.
Heavy rain of 30~50mm per hour (around 30mm in some areas) is expected to continue in the central region until the morning of the 14th, requiring special caution.
In Jeju Island and the southern region, most of the rain will stop from the afternoon of the 13th, but in the central region, rain is expected to continue until the 14th. However, from the afternoon of the 14th, the rain is expected to gradually weaken in more areas of the central region.
The accumulated precipitation until the 14th is predicted to be △50~150mm in the capital area and the West Sea 5 Islands (more than 200mm in Incheon, northern Gyeonggi, and the West Sea 5 Islands) △30~100mm in inland and mountainous areas of Gangwon (more than 150mm in northern and central inland Gangwon) △30~80mm in northern and central Chungbuk and northern Chungnam (more than 100mm in northern Chungnam) △20~60mm in Daejeon, Sejong, southern Chungnam, and southern Chungbuk.
It is expected that welcome rain will also fall on the east coast of Gangwon, which has been suffering from drought. Rain of 10~40mm in the northern region and 5~20mm in the central and southern regions is expected.
In Jeju Island and the southern region, an additional 5~40mm of rain is expected on the 13th.
Strong winds with instantaneous speeds of about 55km/h (15m/s) are also expected in the western coast and central inland areas.
The temperature on the 13th is expected to remain at normal levels, but in Jeju Island and the southern region where the rain stops early, the temperature is expected to rise to the extent that a heatwave advisory will be issued again.
The highest daytime temperatures nationwide are expected to range from 26 to 34 degrees.
