[Financial News]  The person who issued the arrest warrant for former President Yoon Seok-yeol's wife, Kim Geon-hee, is Judge Jeong Jae-wook (55, Judicial Research and Training Institute 30th class) of the Seoul Central District Court. On the morning of the 12th, he conducted a pre-arrest interrogation for Mrs. Kim and issued the warrant after deliberating for more than 9 hours, stating, "There is a concern about evidence destruction."
According to the legal community on the 13th, Judge Jeong, who is from Busan, graduated from Busanjin High School and Korea National Police University (8th class) and passed the bar exam in 1998 while serving as a police officer. He has been working as a lawyer at the Korea Legal Aid Corporation since 2001 and was appointed as a judge after completing the Judicial Research and Training Institute's judge appointment training in 2007. He has served as a presiding judge at Busan District Court, Suwon District Court, and Seoul Central District Court, and has been a warrant judge at Seoul Central District Court since February this year.
The legal community evaluates him as a calm and prudent judge. He is known for making rational decisions by comprehensively reviewing the reasons for detention. On the 1st, he issued an arrest warrant for Lee Sang-min, former Minister of the Interior and Safety, who is suspected of "conspiracy to rebellion" related to the 12·3 martial law, after deliberating for 7 hours, stating, "There is a concern about evidence destruction," and also dismissed the request for a detention review on the 8th.
Additionally, on the 30th of last month, he arrested Mr. Yoon, the former head of the Unification Church's global headquarters, a key figure in the "Geonjin Buddhist monk solicitation suspicion" case, citing "concerns about evidence destruction and flight risk." On the other hand, in April, he dismissed the warrant request for former and current employees of IBK Industrial Bank of Korea, who were suspected of illegal loans worth hundreds of billions of won, stating, "It is difficult to acknowledge the intent with the submitted materials alone."
