Even after former President Yoon's inauguration, criticism from the political world continued due to her private overseas trips and secret contacts.

In November 2023, suspicions expanded with the release of the 'Dior Bag Receipt Video', but at that time, the prosecution conducted a confidential investigation at the Presidential Security Service's annex and concluded with a non-prosecution decision. Subsequently, the 'Kim Keon-hee Special Prosecutor Act' passed the National Assembly under the leadership of the Democratic Party, but the investigation did not proceed due to three vetoes by former President Yoon.

The situation changed after the 12·3 martial law incident and the impeachment of former President Yoon. With the inauguration of the new government and the appointment of a special prosecutor, Mrs. Kim became the first former presidential spouse to be publicly summoned for investigation on the 6th.
