[Financial News] President Lee Jaemyung and his wife held a friendship schedule with Vietnam's Party Secretary General To Lam and his wife, who are on a state visit, at Sangchunjae in Cheongwadae on the morning of the 12th, as announced by Kang Yujeong, the spokesperson of the Presidential Office, through a written briefing.
It is the first official event held at Sangchunjae since the inauguration of President Lee's government, and hosting a state guest at Sangchunjae is the highest courtesy.
In particular, Mrs. Ngo Phuong Li attended the friendship schedule wearing a hanbok gifted by Mrs. Kim Hyekyung the previous day, and she mentioned several times that she was very fond of the hanbok.
The leaders of both countries first enjoyed a performance composed of traditional instruments from both countries. Korea presented a performance of 'Pyeonsudaeyeop - Moranun' using instruments such as geomungo, yanggeum, piri, and janggu, featuring female singer Jo Yunyeong and musicians, while the Vietnam National Traditional Troupe presented a performance using the traditional Vietnamese instrument, Dan Da.
The leaders of both countries personally demonstrated Dan Da, and the Vietnam's Party Secretary General explained Dan Da in detail to President Lee and his wife. President Lee shared his impressions of Dan Da, saying, "Dan Da is truly the sound of nature."
The leaders of both countries expressed deep interest in each other's culture while having tea at Sangchunjae and walking in Nokjiwon, and had a time of friendship to strengthen the bond between the leaders.
President Lee mentioned the cultural affinity between the two countries, saying, "Korea and Vietnam have an inseparable relationship, and let's actively strive for mutual cooperation in the future." Party Secretary General To Lam also responded, "Let's further develop the cooperative relationship between the two countries."
The tea meeting at Sangchunjae that day considered the preference of Party Secretary General To Lam and his wife, who favor tea. Mrs. Kim mentioned a Vietnamese proverb, "Good tea tastes better with good friends," and said she felt close while sharing tea with Party Secretary General To Lam and his wife.
Mrs. Ngo Phuong Li expressed her deep gratitude to President Lee and his wife, hoping that there will be a good opportunity to introduce Vietnamese traditional culture when President Lee and his wife visit Vietnam in the future.
The Presidential Office explained, "Following the state banquet yesterday, today's friendship event at Sangchunjae is evaluated as an opportunity to further strengthen the bond and trust between the leaders of the two countries."
