Ruling Party: "US Forces Korea are for Deterring North Korea, Not Containing China.. Must Convince the US"

[Financial News] Ahead of the Korea-US summit scheduled for the 25th of this month, the Democratic Party of Korea has stated its position regarding the emerging rumors of US Forces Korea redeployment, saying "We must convince that the role of US Forces Korea is limited to the North Korean threat."
Kim Byung-joo, a Democratic Party lawmaker, said on KBS Radio on the 12th, "Since the Trump administration, there seems to be a growing voice within the US that the role of US Forces Korea should be expanded to contain China," but emphasized, "Nevertheless, we must convince that US Forces Korea should be limited to the North Korean threat."
Previously, on the 8th, Xavier Brunson, Commander of US Forces Korea, met with reporters and raised the need for modernization of the Korea-US alliance, suggesting the possibility of US Forces Korea involvement in the event of a US-China conflict.
