[Financial News] The Korea-US summit between President Lee Jaemyung and US President Donald Trump will be held on the 25th.
Kang Yoojeong, spokesperson for the presidential office, held a briefing at the Yongsan presidential office on the 12th and said, "President Lee is scheduled to visit the US from August 24th to 26th to hold a Korea-US summit on August 25th at the invitation of President Trump."
This summit will be the first face-to-face meeting between the Korea-US leaders, and the two leaders plan to discuss ways to develop the Korea-US alliance into a future-oriented comprehensive strategic alliance in response to the changing international security and economic environment.
In addition, they plan to discuss cooperation measures for building peace and denuclearization on the Korean Peninsula while further strengthening the solid Korea-US joint defense posture.
This visit to the US is in the form of a working visit, during which President Lee will hold a summit and a working luncheon with President Trump at the White House. First Lady Kim Hye-kyung is also expected to accompany him.
Spokesperson Kang explained, "The two leaders are expected to discuss ways to further strengthen economic cooperation and economic security partnerships between the two countries, including in the fields of semiconductors, batteries, shipbuilding, and advanced technology, based on the tariff negotiations concluded this time."
