【Financial News Hwasun=Hwang Taejong Reporter】Hwasun Jeonnam University Hospital has introduced the advanced walking rehabilitation robot 'HUCA-Go' to enhance patient-customized treatment and has officially started its operation.
According to Hwasun Jeonnam University Hospital on the 11th, 'HUCA-Go' is a robot-assisted orthopedic exercise device officially approved by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety. It is effective in helping patients with central nervous system disorders and movement disabilities who have difficulty walking to recover a normal walking pattern in a stable weight-bearing state.
In particular, it is a rehabilitation robot applying the end-effector method, where the device mounted on the footplate detects the patient's walking intention in real-time and provides assistance. This allows for precise adjustment of walking speed and stride according to the patient's condition, and through the weight-bearing adjustment function, it creates a stable and efficient rehabilitation training environment.
This robot has been selected for the 'Innovative Product Demonstration Purchase Project' organized by the Public Procurement Service and is gaining attention as an innovative model for public medical institutions. This project is a system that prioritizes the introduction of products with innovative technology to public institutions to verify their performance and effectiveness, and it is expected to become a new model for patient-customized rehabilitation treatment.
The rehabilitation training mode consists of △automatic walking mode (smart/manual) △walking assistance mode (active-assist), allowing for step-by-step training tailored to the patient's walking level. It also has emergency stop and automatic stop functions to enhance safety.
Director of Rehabilitation Medicine Iruji explained, "The robot helps restore a more natural gait than existing treatments by finely detecting the patient's foot movements and adjusting stride and speed," adding, "The weight support function increases safety and reduces patients' psychological anxiety."
Hospital Director Min Jeongjun said, "The introduction of the walking rehabilitation robot is expected to be a new turning point in the treatment of severe rehabilitation patients," adding, "By combining advanced equipment and specialized rehabilitation systems, customized treatment tailored to each patient's condition has become possible. We will continue to actively introduce the latest rehabilitation technologies to strengthen patient-centered rehabilitation medicine."
