[Financial News] The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced on the 11th that it will hold the 'Second Half Accommodation Sale Festa' in collaboration with the Korea Tourism Organization to boost domestic travel demand in the upcoming fall and winter and to invigorate the local economy.
The fall edition will run from the 20th to October 30th, and the winter edition will run from November 3rd to December 7th. During this period, the Ministry and the Tourism Organization will distribute 8 million accommodation discount coupons worth 23.6 billion won.
Discounts will be provided for accommodation facilities in non-metropolitan areas excluding the metropolitan area (Seoul, Gyeonggi, Incheon). If you book an accommodation product worth 70,000 won or more, you can receive a 30,000 won discount, and if you book a product worth less than 70,000 won, you can receive a 20,000 won discount.
Discounted facilities include domestic accommodations such as hotels, condos, resorts, and pensions. Day-use products or unregistered facilities are excluded from discounts. You can receive one coupon per person on a first-come, first-served basis through participating online travel agency channels.
After receiving the discount coupon, you must complete your reservation and payment within the valid time from 10 AM to 7 AM the next day. If you do not use the coupon, you can receive it again from 10 AM the next day.
If you do not use it within the validity period due to reservation cancellation, the coupon will automatically disappear. In addition to the fall and winter editions, the Ministry will provide an additional 72,000 accommodation discount coupons for special disaster areas from the 20th to October 30th.
The special disaster areas affected by wildfires and heavy rains, as well as the areas affected by the passenger plane disaster at the end of last year, are eligible. The special disaster areas will receive expanded discount benefits, with a 50,000 won discount for accommodation products worth 70,000 won or more, and a 30,000 won discount for products worth less than 70,000 won. Coupons cannot be issued in duplicate with the fall edition, which has the same event period.
Kim Geun-ho, Director of Tourism Industry Policy at the Ministry, said, "We hope that the Accommodation Sale Festa will alleviate the travel cost burden for the public and serve as an opportunity for the rapid recovery of disaster-affected areas and the revitalization of the local economy," adding, "We hope you will join us on a trip to regions where you can fully enjoy the atmosphere of fall and winter."
