[Financial News] Global Sae-A Group's Sae-A Trading is helping to solve the waste plastic pollution problem in Indonesia, a country where it operates.
Sae-A Trading announced on the 11th that its Indonesian subsidiary and affiliated fabric company Won Textile supported technology development and production for the 'PET Bottle Resource Recycling Campaign'.
This event involves reprocessing waste plastic collected in Indonesia to produce T-shirts and teddy bears, which are then donated to the local community.
Sae-A Trading utilized waste plastic collected from PET bottle collection boxes installed in 89 public facilities in Jakarta by Save the Children since August 2022. In collaboration with the Environmental Foundation, approximately 702kg of waste plastic was processed into recycled yarn and reborn as T-shirts and teddy bears. The upcycling technology developed at the vertically integrated production facility established in Indonesia was applied.
The completed T-shirts amount to 6,200 pieces. The T-shirts were donated to children in the Jakarta area and provided as prizes for campaign participants.
Sae-A Trading operates production subsidiaries in 10 countries, including △Indonesia △Vietnam △Guatemala △El Salvador, and is developing region-specific environmental, social, and governance (ESG) activities.
Moon Seong-mi, CEO of Global Sae-A Group's Sae-A Trading, said, "We have re-evaluated the value of waste resources and demonstrated the possibility of sustainable eco-friendly clothing production," adding, "We will actively expand ESG activities by utilizing our in-house vertical integration technology and global clothing production network."
