[Financial News] Jeong Cheong-rae, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, argued that strong measures should be taken against not only Jeon Han-gil but also Kwon Seong-dong, Choo Kyung-ho, and other suspects. Jeong stated this by sharing an article titled 'People Power Party begins disciplinary action against Jeon Han-gil... Ahn Cheol-soo and Cho Kyung-tae "Expel and dismiss"' on Facebook on the morning of the 10th.
The People Power Party held an emergency countermeasure committee meeting the day before (9th) and decided to transfer the investigation of party member Jeon Han-gil (real name Jeon Yu-gwan) from the Seoul City Ethics Committee to the Central Ethics Committee to initiate disciplinary procedures.
Jeong mentioned the past case of expelling independent lawmaker Lee Chun-seok due to 'suspicion of stock trading under a borrowed name' and pointed out, "I took strong action against this lawmaker. Solve your own household problems before interfering in others' affairs."
He also criticized by citing the case of the dissolution of the Unified Progressive Party, saying, "The People Power Party should be dissolved 10 or 100 times."
Jeong stated, "The Unified Progressive Party was dissolved on charges of conspiracy to commit rebellion and incitement to rebellion, and five affiliated lawmakers were deprived of their positions," and questioned, "Isn't the crime of People Power Party member Yoon Seok-yeol, who actually executed rebellion, much heavier, considering that a party was dissolved for mere conspiracy and incitement to rebellion that were not executed?"
He continued, "Then, considering the case of the Unified Progressive Party, isn't the People Power Party subject to dissolution 10 or 100 times?" and emphasized, "The People Power Party must answer this question."
