[Financial News] Seoul Housing and Communities Corporation (SH) announced that it visited Brisbane, Australia from the 3rd to the 7th with Han River Bus Co., Ltd. to visit the operation site of the water bus 'CityCat', which has been operated for over 30 years. This was to learn know-how ahead of the official operation of the Han River Bus in about a month.
According to SH on the 7th, this visit was promoted to reflect the punctual operation service know-how, ship docking technology, safety management system, and dock facilities accumulated by the city of Brisbane in the operation of the Han River Bus by directly visiting the site with a team composed mainly of practitioners.
During the visit, they examined the mooring and management system of ships by visiting the representative mooring facilities, Manly Harbour and East Coast Marina, and explored ways to enhance the connectivity between water transportation and waterfront sites by visiting successful waterfront development sites such as Powerhouse and Howard Smith Wharves.
They also boarded the CityCat during commuting hours to learn punctual operation management methods and docking technology during boarding and disembarking processes from the on-site crew. Additionally, they benchmarked operational know-how such as operation control, facility maintenance, and disaster response systems by meeting with RiverCity Ferries, the operator of CityCat, and Brisbane City Transport Team.
Meanwhile, the Han River Bus, scheduled for official operation in September, is the first eco-friendly water public transportation in Korea, and will travel between seven docks - Magok, Mangwon, Yeouido, Oksu, Apgujeong, Ttukseom, and Jamsil - at 15-minute intervals during commuting hours.
Sangha Hwang, President of SH, said, "Through this visit, we have acquired advanced overseas know-how accumulated over 30 years and sought practical improvements necessary for the operation of the Han River Bus," adding, "We will do our best to make the Han River Bus a safe and pleasant means of transportation that enriches the daily lives of Seoul citizens."
