Discussing Future Cooperation in Nuclear Power, High-Speed Rail, Smart Cities at Summit
[Financial News] As the first foreign leader since President Lee Jae-myung's inauguration, Trong, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, will visit Korea from the 10th to the 13th for a state visit lasting 3 nights and 4 days.
Kang Yoo-jung, spokesperson for the Presidential Office, stated in a briefing on the 7th, "General Secretary Trong is the first foreign leader to visit Korea since the inauguration of the Lee Jae-myung administration," adding, "Through the summit scheduled for the 11th and the state banquet, in-depth discussions will be held not only on politics and security, trade and investment, but also on national infrastructure such as nuclear power, high-speed rail, smart cities, and future strategic areas like science and technology and human resource development."
Vietnam is a comprehensive strategic partner of Korea and a key partner within ASEAN. Spokesperson Kang expressed expectations, saying, "This visit will serve as an opportunity for both countries to develop in a more future-oriented and mutually beneficial manner."
During the briefing, questions were also raised about historical issues such as the lawsuit for compensation for civilian victims of the Vietnam War. Spokesperson Kang responded, "The Vietnamese side also values the development of future-oriented relations," and "both countries are focusing on mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields such as economy, culture, science and technology, and human resource development."
Regarding other diplomatic and economic issues such as the Korea-U.S. summit, tariffs with Vietnam, and the appointment of the ambassador to the U.S., it was added, "Major issues will be disclosed after coordination between the two countries."
