'Obstruction of Martial Law Lift Resolution' Related Witness Investigation
Chairman Woo appeared at the Seoul High Prosecutors' Office, where the treason special investigation team office is located, around 9:40 AM on the 7th, stating, "The National Assembly is an institution that was also invaded through martial law, and as an institution that lifted martial law in accordance with the constitution and laws with the people, it is a natural duty as the chairman to come out and clarify the truth."
In response to reporters' questions about the investigation of the People's Power leadership, he said, "Today, I came out to cooperate with the special investigation team. To reveal the truth," and added, "I will answer such questions through today's statement."
The special investigation team requested Chairman Woo to appear as a witness on the 31st of last month. It is known that the special investigation team will ask Chairman Woo about the situation before and after the vote on the resolution to demand the lifting of the 12·3 martial law in the National Assembly.
Since the special investigation law specifies the suspicion of obstructing the vote on the National Assembly's 12·3 martial law lift resolution as a subject of investigation, the special investigation team has no choice but to summon politicians for investigation.
The special investigation team requested People's Power lawmaker Ahn Cheol-soo to appear as a witness on the 29th of last month, but Representative Ahn refused the investigation request of the special investigation team, defining it as "opposition party oppression." It is known that the special investigation team tried to understand the internal situation of the People's Power party at the time through Representative Ahn, who was one of the few People's Power members who attended the resolution to demand the lifting of the 12·3 martial law and had expressed support for the special investigation law.
Meanwhile, the special investigation team plans to summon and investigate People's Power lawmaker Cho Kyung-tae as a witness on the 11th.
