According to the legal community on the 7th, the Seoul Northern District Court Criminal Division 5 (Judge Kwon So-Young) sentenced Mr. A (56), who was indicted on charges of theft, fraud, and attempted fraud, to three years in prison.
Mr. A was put on trial for stealing a total of 19 cards left by customers at an unmanned ice cream store in Dobong-gu, Seoul from December 4 to December 7 last year. He was found to have used the stolen cards to purchase a gold ring and spent about 2 million won.
In addition, Mr. A is also accused of attempting to use a stolen credit card as his own while purchasing a gold necklace at a jewelry store in Gangbuk-gu, Seoul in November last year. During the same period, he is also accused of receiving goods worth about 4.3 million won with cards picked up on the street a total of 26 times.
Mr. A is known to have a criminal record, having been sentenced to one year in prison for theft at the Seoul Northern District Court on November 17, 2023.
The court stated, "He committed the crime again only about a month after being released from prison for the same type of crime," and "The nature of the crime is very poor and the possibility of blame is high."
