Park Jong-gil Urges Agency Heads to Concentrate on "Self-Discipline Prevention System"
Orders "Action First, Report Later" in Case of Disaster
Recently, President Lee Jae-myung ordered the eradication of serious accidents, and this measure reflects the intention to play an exemplary role as a public institution.
The organization serves as a facility for vulnerable customers, including 3,500 children in daycare centers and 6,200 hospital patients daily, totaling 10,000 people, as well as over 10,000 employees. Additionally, it is an organization that requires thorough management of risks, with over 600 large-scale new construction and outsourcing projects annually.
Accordingly, the organization has prepared and implemented measures for real-time risk detection and response. Specifically, it plans to promote △strengthening safety awareness education for all employees and designating on-site safety leaders △establishing a safety inspection roadmap △enhancing safety manuals △introducing a feedback system for on-site employees and users.
Park Jong-gil, Chairman of Korea Workers' Compensation & Welfare Service, ordered agency heads nationwide to focus their capabilities on establishing a self-discipline prevention system, including fire prevention and safety management of outsourcing projects. He also instructed them to respond quickly and decisively with an 'action first, report later' system in case of disaster.
Earlier, the organization established the 'Safety Ethics Management Headquarters' as the top department (First Division) to mark its 30th anniversary this year. This reflects the organization's management philosophy of prioritizing safety, health, and ethical management.
Since June this year, Chairman Park has been visiting local branches, hospitals, and daycare centers nationwide to strengthen his field safety management efforts.
He emphasized, "Safety is not a subject of compromise and is a zero variable that returns everything to nothing," adding, "As a public institution, we will take the lead in spreading a safety culture in industrial sites and do our best to create workplaces without serious accidents."
Meanwhile, the organization plans to promote measures to strengthen cooperation in the safety field with other institutions and private companies by the end of this year.
