[Financial News] Samsung Electro-Mechanics announced on the 6th that it has been included in the FTSE4Good Index, a global environmental, social, and governance (ESG) evaluation index, for 15 consecutive years since 2011. This is the longest inclusion record in the domestic electronic components industry.
FTSE4Good is a specialized ESG evaluation index jointly created by the Financial Times of the UK and the London Stock Exchange, evaluating over 300 items in terms of environment, society, and governance, and announcing excellent companies annually. Being included in this index means being officially certified as a trusted ESG leading company in the global market.
In this evaluation, Samsung Electro-Mechanics received excellent scores in all areas of environment (E), society (S), and governance (G). In particular, Samsung Electro-Mechanics received high evaluations in △water resource management △supply chain management △corporate governance.
Samsung Electro-Mechanics is gradually expanding domestic and international water resource reuse facilities to improve water resource management and water reuse rates in the manufacturing process. Additionally, to create a sustainable corporate ecosystem, it is strengthening supply chain competitiveness through various programs such as joint technology development with partners, support for mutual growth funds, and operation of a win-win academy.
In the governance sector, Samsung Electro-Mechanics maintains a female outside director ratio of over 50% on the board and has an outside director as the chairman of the board to enhance the independence and transparency of board decision-making.
Samsung Electro-Mechanics has set an ESG mission of 'Sustainable Challenge for a Better Earth and Life' and is practicing the 3P ESG strategy with the core keywords of environmental efforts (Planet), pursuit of member happiness (People), and sustainable growth (Progress).
These efforts have also resulted in achievements in various external evaluations. Samsung Electro-Mechanics has been included in the 'DJBIC World Index' for 16 consecutive years for the first time in Korea, received the Carbon Trust 'Carbon Footprint' certification for the first time in the industry, won the CDP Korea Award, and obtained 'Zero Waste to Landfill' certification for all domestic and international business sites, establishing itself as a representative company practicing ESG management.
Jang Deok-hyun, President of Samsung Electro-Mechanics, said, "Our responsible decisions create valuable growth," and "We will internalize sustainable management by minimizing environmental impact, spreading a culture of mutual respect, and managing safe workplaces to become a trusted company." soup@fnnews.com Lim Soo-bin Reporter
