[Financial News] The Rebellion and Foreign Affairs Special Prosecutor's Team (Cho Eun-seok Special Prosecutor) has decided to summon Woo Won-sik, Speaker of the National Assembly, on the 7th as a victim of the '12·3 Martial Law'. The special prosecutor also mentioned the need to investigate some members of the National Assembly who did not participate in the vote to lift martial law.
Park Ji-young, assistant special prosecutor for rebellion, said at a regular briefing on the 5th, "We requested cooperation for a reference investigation from Woo Won-sik, Speaker of the National Assembly, who is a victim and the representative of the institution that lifted the unconstitutional martial law," and announced that after consulting on the timing and method, Woo will appear at the special prosecutor's office at 10 a.m. on the 7th.
Woo will be investigated as a victim related to 'obstruction of the National Assembly's resolution to lift martial law' under the Rebellion Special Prosecutor Act. He is expected to testify about issues such as attempts to arrest members or property damage that occurred within the National Assembly.
In addition, it has been confirmed that the special prosecutor requested a reference investigation from Representative Cho Kyung-tae on the 11th.
The special prosecutor raised the need to investigate not only the members who participated in the vote on the resolution to demand the lifting of martial law but also those who did not participate. This is to confirm whether they intended to vote but were unable to attend or if they could not attend due to obstruction.
Assistant Special Prosecutor Park said, "It seems that an investigation should be conducted on why those who did not participate in the vote were unable to do so," and "There are members who were unable to participate in both the People Power Party and the Democratic Party. It is not an investigation of a particular party, but rather a necessary investigation into the reasons for non-participation, regardless of party," he explained.
Meanwhile, the special prosecutor expressed the need for additional investigation into Lee Sang-min, the former Minister of the Interior and Safety, who was investigated in custody the previous day. However, the investigation schedule has not yet been set.
On the same day, it was reported that Noh Sang-won, the former Director of the Intelligence Command, completely refused to testify regarding the 'foreign affairs' charges. The special prosecutor stated that there has been no progress in the overall investigation, including handwriting analysis related to the 'Noh Sang-won notebook'.
