[Financial News] The Lee Jae-myung government plans to emphasize a message of national unity by inviting former Presidents Lee Myung-bak and Park Geun-hye, as well as former first ladies Kim Ok-sook and Lee Soon-ja, to the National Appointment Ceremony to be held on the 15th.
Kang Yoo-jung, spokesperson for the Presidential Office, stated in a briefing on the 5th, "Woo Sang-ho, the Senior Secretary for Political Affairs, plans to personally visit former President Moon Jae-in and his wife, as well as Kwon Yang-sook, to deliver the invitation to the National Appointment Ceremony," adding, "Kim Byung-wook, Secretary for Administrative Safety, plans to personally deliver the invitation to former Presidents Lee Myung-bak and Park Geun-hye, as well as Kim Ok-sook and Lee Soon-ja, through schedule coordination."
The Presidential Office explained that this invitation is a practical and symbolic measure by the Lee Jae-myung government to show respect for former presidents and their spouses and to move towards national unity.
Additionally, the National Appointment Ceremony will specially invite residents of Goseong, Gangwon, to "embed the meaning of symbolizing peace on the Korean Peninsula, and the peace message will be a major focus at the appointment ceremony," it emphasized.
Meanwhile, regarding the recent controversy over the major shareholder standard for stock transfer tax, "We are listening to various opinions from the government and the ruling party, and the expressions of reconsideration or request are not factual," it stated, "The plan is to determine it by presidential decree after gathering opinions."
Regarding President Lee's schedule during his vacation, "He is receiving reports on various issues such as reading, watching movies, national policy planning, and preparing for the Korea-U.S. summit, but the detailed schedule is not yet determined," it conveyed. Regarding the special pardon for Liberation Day, "We are listening to various opinions on the pardon of politicians, but the final decision has not been made," it said.
