[Financial News] The Agency for Defense Development (ADD) held a ceremony to commemorate its 55th anniversary. The 10th Uibum Academic Award ceremony was also held during this anniversary event.
On the 5th, ADD held a ceremony attended by 55 people, including former directors and families of fallen heroes, to reflect on the achievements of defense research and development over the past 55 years, which laid the foundation for K-defense, and to set future defense research and development goals and make pledges. Additionally, they honored the dedication of fallen heroes and comforted their families for their contributions to the advancement of defense science and technology.
Lee Geon-wan, Director of ADD, said, "ADD has contributed to strengthening our nation's self-defense capabilities over the past 55 years as a cornerstone of defense," and added, "We will strive to advance weapon systems and develop cutting-edge defense science and technology without resting on our current achievements."
During this anniversary event, Senior Researcher Lee Yeon-gwan was selected as the recipient of the Uibum Academic Award. Senior Researcher Lee has achieved outstanding research results in the field of missile airframe structures. In May, he also received the Jo Jeong-hoon Academic Award from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) for his remarkable research achievements in the field of aerospace engineering.
Senior Researcher Lee stated, "I will continue to develop technologies that can further advance defense science and technology, contributing to national security and strengthening the future competitiveness of K-defense."
The Uibum Academic Award was established to honor the late Uibum Kim Yong-chul, who donated 10 billion won, leaving behind the words "Life is finite, but the nation is infinite." Since 2016, ADD has been awarding this certificate annually to researchers under the age of 45 who have achieved outstanding research results.
