[Financial News] Apgujeong 5 District, a wealthy area along the Han River in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, will be reborn as a complex with 1401 households up to 50 stories high. It is expected to become a complex where residents can enjoy riverside living culture, with a three-dimensional viewing deck park that takes advantage of the Han River view.
Seoul City announced on the 5th that it held the 8th Urban Planning Committee's delegated subcommittee on the 4th and approved the amendment to the Apgujeong 5 District maintenance area and maintenance plan decision (change) and landscape review.
Accordingly, Apgujeong 5 District will be developed into a large-scale complex with a floor area ratio of 300% or less and one landmark building with a maximum height of 250m, and the rest 200m (50 stories or less), totaling 1401 households (including 140 public housing units), 47 years after its completion in 1978.
This review took place 24 months after the rapid integrated plan for Apgujeong Districts 2 to 5 was confirmed in July 2023.
The first main building facing the Han River on the north side of the complex is planned to be 20 stories high to minimize the sense of intimidation from the riverside. The street facing the road between Districts 4 and 5, called Hangang-gane-gil, is designated as a street activation special zone, where open community facilities such as 'small libraries' are concentrated.
The three-dimensional viewing deck (small park) that can overlook the Han River will be installed in connection with District 4 along the circular road on the north side, and a gentle slope will be created to allow easy access for anyone using the riverside.
Additionally, by utilizing the connecting green space and park along Olympic-daero, a circular pedestrian path will be established around the complex, connecting the school routes from Cheongdam Elementary, Middle, and High Schools to Apgujeong Elementary, Middle, and High Schools in conjunction with District 4.
Apgujeong 5 District plans to quickly implement the integrated review process for architecture, transportation, education, and environment, and finalize the construction plan by reflecting the results of this review in the maintenance plan notice.
Choi Jin-seok, head of the Seoul City Housing Office, said, "We hope that the Apgujeong area will lead the riverside living culture as the center of Gangnam, creating a diverse skyline and unique landscape that harmonizes with the Han River," adding, "Seoul City will also do its best to ensure that administrative procedures can proceed more quickly in the future."
