[Financial News] Kim Geon-hee's special prosecutor team (Min Jung-gi special prosecutor) may attempt to re-execute the arrest warrant for former President Yoon Seok-yeol as early as the 5th. The deadline for the arrest warrant is the 7th.
According to the legal community, securing the custody of former President Yoon is done by sending prosecutors and investigators under the command of the special prosecutor to forcibly bring him from Seoul Detention Center. However, if former President Yoon strongly resists again, it is uncertain whether he can actually be brought in. There is also the possibility of him exercising the right to remain silent.
Special Prosecutor Moon Hong-ju plans to visit Seoul Detention Center with one prosecutor and one investigator and first recommend voluntary attendance to former President Yoon. Although former President Yoon has previously refused to attend, there might be a change in his stance ahead of the forced bringing.
However, the possibility of former President Yoon voluntarily attending remains low. Former President Yoon resisted in his underwear during the first execution.
If this happens, the special prosecutor team will lead the correctional officers in front of the room where former President Yoon is detained to forcibly bring him. It is known that the special prosecutor team is also considering wearing body cams.
The special prosecutor team plans to execute the arrest warrant even if former President Yoon presents 'health reasons'.
Former President Yoon has been detained at Seoul Detention Center since the 10th for the special investigation on rebellion. Since the investigation content and charges are different, Kim Geon-hee's special prosecutor needs to obtain a separate arrest warrant to forcibly bring former President Yoon.
Former President Yoon is accused of intervening in the nomination process during the 2022 National Assembly by-elections and last year's 22nd National Assembly elections.
The special prosecutor team believes that former President Yoon received 81 opinion polls free of charge from Mr. Myung Tae-kyun during his presidential candidacy and intervened in nominating former People Power Party lawmaker Kim Young-sun in the same year's by-election as a reward.
Additionally, the special prosecutor team is looking into allegations that former President Yoon and his wife intervened in the nomination of former Deputy Prosecutor Kim Sang-min in last year's general election, as well as allegations related to the Deutsche Motors stock manipulation and statements made during the presidential primary debate (violation of the Public Official Election Act for false information disclosure).
