[Financial News] Director Park Chan-wook's film 'There's No Other Way', which he presents after 3 years, has been selected as the opening film for the 30th Busan International Film Festival this year.
On the 4th, the Busan International Film Festival announced that 'There's No Other Way' will be unveiled for the first time in Asia at the Busan International Film Festival on the 17th of next month. This film is set to premiere worldwide as it is invited to the competition section of the 82nd Venice International Film Festival, held in Italy on the 27th.
Previously, the Busan International Film Festival named actor Lee Byung-hun as the host of the opening ceremony, and Lee Byung-hun is the lead actor in 'There's No Other Way'. The film tells the story of 'Mansu' (Lee Byung-hun), a company employee who felt his life was fulfilling, but after being suddenly laid off, he prepares for his own battle for reemployment to protect his wife, two children, and the house he struggled to acquire. Director Park Chan-wook expressed deep affection for this film, mentioning it as "the story I most wanted to create" at the 2019 Busan International Film Festival.
Jung Han-seok, the executive director of the Busan International Film Festival, stated, "I am thrilled and excited to think that we can enjoy the story Park Chan-wook most wanted to create with many audiences on the first day of this year's film festival. I hope that the selection of this film as the opening film will increase interest in it and lead to a positive place for interest in Korean films."
Meanwhile, the 30th Busan International Film Festival will be held from September 17 to 26.
