Hong Kong Week 2025@Seoul, where you can experience the culture and arts of Hong Kong, will officially open on the 26th of next month, announced the Hong Kong Tourism Board on the 4th.

The Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) under the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region is presenting a total of 14 programs including dance, music, film, visual arts, and fashion. The festival already announced its prelude with the Chinese contemporary art exhibition 'Wu Guanzhong: Between Black and White' which started on the 25th of last month at the Seoul Arts Center Calligraphy Museum.

This exhibition, featuring 17 pieces including ink paintings and oil paintings from the Hong Kong Museum of Art (HKMoA), was noted as a convergence exhibition encompassing paintings and media, beyond a simple retrospective.

The main festival will kick off with the Hong Kong Ballet's 'Romeo+Juliet' on the stage of the Haeoreum Theater at the National Theater on the 26th of next month. 'Romeo+Juliet', which relocates Shakespeare's classic to 1960s Hong Kong, is a work that adds kung fu and cinematic sensibility to classical ballet, and it holds special significance as it is the first work presented by the Hong Kong Ballet in Seoul since its founding.

In addition, performances by representative Hong Kong art groups will be held in succession. On October 11th, the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra will perform at the Lotte Concert Hall, and on the 19th, the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, a leading music group in Asia, will perform at the Seoul Arts Center Concert Hall. Pianist Sunwoo Yekwon will collaborate as a soloist, and contemporary works by Unsuk Chin will also be performed, drawing attention.

In the field of dance, high-quality creative stages continue. The Hong Kong Dance Company's large-scale creative play '24 Solar Terms' will be staged at the National Gugak Center Yeakdang on October 18-19, and the experimental contemporary dance group 'Labora Teri Arts' will present the new work 'Pajiok' at the Arko Arts Theater on October 17 and 19.

In addition to performances, various cultural events will fill various parts of downtown Seoul. On October 11th, 'Garden of Dreams: Concert and Film' featuring K-pop and Hong Kong pop artists will be held at Nanji Hangang Park, and the Hong Kong Comic Culture Exhibition at Starfield Hanam, as well as the Seoul-Hong Kong Fashion Show in Seongsu-dong, will attract the interest of Seoul citizens.

Meanwhile, ticket reservations for the opening work of 'Hong Kong Week 2025@Seoul', the Hong Kong Ballet's 'Romeo+Juliet', have already started on the 25th of last month, and from the 8th, ticket reservations for the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra's concert featuring pianist Sunwoo Yekwon and the Hong Kong Dance Company's large-scale creative play '24 Solar Terms' will be opened sequentially.
