[Financial News] Law Firm YK and the Korean In-House Lawyers Association will jointly hold a seminar on the revised Commercial Law.
YK announced on the 4th that it will hold the 'Revised Commercial Law Seminar' at its main office in Gangnam, Seoul on the 11th to diagnose the impact of the revised Commercial Law on Korea's corporate governance and discuss practical response measures for the expansion of directors' duty of care.
The seminar consists of two sessions. In the first session, Professor Kim Hwajin from Seoul National University School of Law will present on the topic 'The Revised Commercial Law and the Future of Korean Corporate Governance'. Professor Kim plans to explain the impact of the newly revised Commercial Law on Korean corporate governance based on his expertise in corporate law and capital market law.
The second session will be led by Kang Jingu, a partner lawyer at YK and head of the Corporate Governance Center. Lawyer Kang will analyze practical issues that may arise due to the expansion of directors' duty of care, based on various advisory and practical experiences in corporate governance and management rights disputes.
YK launched the 'Corporate Governance Center (CGC)' simultaneously with the passage of the Commercial Law amendment in the National Assembly on the 3rd of last month. The center aims to proactively respond to the changing legislative environment and provide expert solutions to major legal risks of companies, such as management rights disputes, shareholder activism, and the expansion of directors' responsibilities.
Lawyer Kang stated, "I hope this seminar will serve as an opportunity to concretely think together about how to practically respond in the changing legal system."
