The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced on the 4th that it will hold the 'Tourism Remembering the 80th Anniversary of Liberation' event in collaboration with the Korea Tourism Organization and Hana Bank to mark the 80th anniversary of Liberation.

This event is an event that focuses on introducing 13 tourist sites related to the independence movement among the 'Korea Tourism 100 Selections', which are selected every two years by the Korea Tourism Organization, allowing the general public to visit these places and reflect on the meaning of Liberation.

The 'Korea Tourism 100 Selections' related to Liberation include Gwanghwamun Square and Cheonggye Plaza (Seoul), Gwangmyeong Cave and Dumulmeori (Gyeonggi), Open Port Cultural District (Incheon), Independence Hall and Cheongnamdae (Chungcheong), Mokpo Modern History Space and Jeonju Hanok Village (Jeolla), Daegu Seomun Market and Yeongnam Alps (Gyeongsang), etc.

First, if you visit these 13 places during the Liberation Week from the 11th to the 17th, you can receive a Liberation commemorative magnet on a first-come, first-served basis. The Liberation commemorative magnet is designed using the 'Jingwansa Taegeukgi', which expresses the will for independence and patriotism by drawing the Taegeukgi over the Japanese flag.

The 'My Own Liberation Travel Plan' event will also be held. By sharing travel plans for the 'Korea Tourism 100 Selections' tourist sites related to Liberation on the 'Visit Korea' website and certifying your visit, you can win a 'Hojong-i' plush doll keyring wrapped in a Taegeukgi through a draw.

Additionally, an event in collaboration with Hana Bank will also be held. From the 8th to the 7th of the next month, all visitors to the 'Korea Tourism 100 Selections', including the 13 Liberation-related tourist sites, will receive a Hana Bank additional interest rate coupon, and some will win regional tourism facility vouchers, dining vouchers, and fuel vouchers through a draw.

Kim Jeong-hoon, Director of the Tourism Policy Bureau of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said, "The purpose of this event is to break the existing framework that memorial events should be conducted solemnly and to remember Liberation in a new way through tourism," adding, "We hope that through this event, more people will visit the Liberation sites and reflect on the sacrifices of the patriotic martyrs."
