【Financial News Sokcho=Kim Giseop Reporter】For the first time among local governments or tourism organizations nationwide, Gangwon Tourism Foundation and Jogye Order Social Welfare Foundation will jointly operate a temple tourism specialized program called Meeting Temple Stay.
According to Gangwon Tourism Foundation on the 4th, together with the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism Social Welfare Foundation, they will jointly host the 'I am a Temple, Sinheungsa' program for 1 night and 2 days from September 13 to 14 at Sinheungsa in Sokcho, which has been selected as the recommended travel destination for September during the '2025-2026 Visit Gangwon Year'.
This program is designed to allow participants to naturally communicate and form connections centered around the Sinheungsa Temple Stay experience in Sokcho.
Through various programs that highlight the characteristics of the Gangwon region, such as a walk around Yeongnangho sharing hearts in nature, a 1-on-1 rotation tea talk at a large cafe with Sokcho sea as the backdrop, and a tour of Sokcho Tourist Fishery Market, temple tourism content where the region and youth meet is showcased.
In particular, it is expected that in the process of metropolitan area youth directly experiencing and communicating with the Gangwon region, their interest in the region will naturally increase, leading to regional economic revitalization and the creation of new connections.
Anyone who wishes to participate in 'I am a Temple, Sinheungsa' can apply if they are unmarried men and women in their 20s to 30s living in Seoul, Incheon, Gyeonggi, and Gangwon regions, regardless of religion.
Applications can be made from 10 a.m. on the 5th to 10 a.m. on the 14th through the Gangwon Tourism Foundation website or the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism Social Welfare Foundation website announcements.
Choi Seonghyeon, representative of Gangwon Tourism Foundation, said, "Through this jointly hosted event, it is expected that metropolitan area youth will discover the charm of Gangwon and contribute to enhancing regional vitality through tourism experiences that naturally connect with the region."
