[Financial News] Chungnam Province and the Chungnam Saemaul Association announced on the 3rd that they introduced the history, culture, and spirit of the Saemaul Movement of Chungnam to Laotian university students and professors.
According to Chungnam Province, from the 24th to the 31st of last month, as part of the 'Global Talent Development Support Project', they invited 20 outstanding students and professors from the Korean Language Department of the National University of Laos.
The participating students and professors took part in the program 'Learn Chungnam! Learn the Saemaul Movement!' where they directly experienced the history, culture, economy, and spirit of the Saemaul Movement of Chungnam. The main program was conducted in a way that allowed them to broadly experience the development status of Korea by visiting places such as Chungnam Province, the Saemaul Movement Central Training Institute, advanced agricultural sites, historical and cultural sites, and industrial facilities.
The students deeply understood the development process Korea went through by directly conversing with experts on-site and sought ways to apply it to the reality of Laos through Q&A sessions.
Student Kanlanya said, "I was very surprised at how a country that went through a war similar to Laos could develop so quickly and become a prosperous nation," and added, "I was deeply impressed by the advanced administration of Chungnam and the warm hospitality."
Shin Dong-heon, Director of the Autonomous Safety Office of Chungnam Province, said at the 'Welcome Meeting for Invited Laotian National University Students' on the first day of the visit, "We will expand human exchanges with Laos through this support project," and added, "We will continuously seek follow-up measures to ensure practical cooperation in various fields, including the promotion of long-term cooperative projects."
Seong Nak-gu, Chairman of the Chungnam Saemaul Association, said, "This Global Talent Development Support Project will be an important opportunity to inform Laotian youth about the value of the Saemaul Movement and the development of Korea and Chungnam, and to establish a future-oriented cooperative relationship between the two countries," and added, "We will positively consider forming a Saemaul club at Laotian universities and delivering scholarships to outstanding Korean Language Department students."
Meanwhile, this project, as part of the overseas cooperation project of the Saemaul Movement since 2023, started with support for farm income and transfer of agricultural technology in Nasaitongu Posim Village, Laos, and marks its third year this year.
