[Financial News] Naver announced on the 1st that it launched 'Lens x AI Briefing', which applies artificial intelligence (AI) technology that understands both images and text to smart lenses, on July 31.
This feature allows users to input images such as plants, wine, and fashion items with smart lenses, and AI analyzes them to find highly relevant documents and provides a summary of key content.
This has enriched the image search results, which were previously centered on similar images or encyclopedic knowledge. Now, it provides intuitive key information based on content from various sources, and additional information exploration is possible through recommended documents provided at the bottom.
For example, if you take a picture of a flower with a smart lens, it analyzes content from various sources to provide key information such as the flower's name, blooming season, characteristics, flower language, and care methods.
If you photograph a wine label, you can check various information such as variety, production area, and pairing at a glance, and AI briefing allows you to conveniently check product information, brand, and style characteristics for fashion item images as well.
Naver plans to continuously expand the application scope of AI briefing while extending the existing text-centered AI briefing to image search, making everyday information exploration easier and more convenient.
As of the end of July, the number of search terms provided with AI briefing increased about 8 times compared to the initial launch, and the dwell time at the top of the search results increased by 32%, receiving positive user feedback.
Sangbeom Kim, leader of Naver's search platform, said, “Lens x AI Briefing is key in that AI quickly summarizes information of interest even if users only take pictures, and it is an example of expanding the existing text-centered AI briefing to image search,” adding, “We will continue to enhance Naver search as an 'AI Agent' to provide convenience in various exploration situations.”
