[Financial News] Naver announced on the 1st that it has partnered with Japan's largest restaurant information platform 'Tabelog' to provide Japanese restaurant information through data integration with its Place service. A system has also been introduced that allows users to directly make reservations at some restaurants.
Tabelog is a restaurant evaluation platform that provides information on approximately 880,000 restaurants across Japan.
Naver provides Japanese restaurant information by integrating Tabelog's vast data. Users can search for lists of popular restaurants in major Japanese travel destinations, such as 'Osaka restaurants', or search by the name of a specific restaurant to find detailed information such as △location △menu △price information △photos △business hours △payment methods △facilities.
Information that was difficult to identify through existing searches, such as whether children are allowed or if easy payment is supported, is also displayed in Korean, which is expected to greatly enhance travel convenience.
Additionally, for restaurants where reservations are possible through Tabelog, users can click on the 'Go to Reservation' item to move to the reservation page provided by Tabelog and make reservations directly. Initially, the reservation link function will be provided mainly for popular restaurants in major areas such as Tokyo, Osaka, Sapporo, and Fukuoka. The range of restaurants supported by the reservation service will be gradually expanded until the end of the year.
Japanese restaurant information will be exposed not only in Naver's travel information service but also throughout the integrated search results for Japanese travel-related keywords. Furthermore, a 'recommendation block' is provided at the bottom of specific restaurant search results, which informs users of nearby tourist information or similar popular restaurants, allowing them to explore related travel content in succession.
Choi Ji-hoon, the head of Naver Place Search & Content, stated, "This partnership with Tabelog is a strategic decision to enhance the place search experience specialized for Japanese travel," adding, "We plan to advance our services so that users can easily and densely explore various Japanese restaurant information through Naver Search and Place services, enjoying an optimized travel experience."
