Regarding the nomination of former prosecutor Kim Sang-min, "I heard that it was recommended by lawyer Seo Jung-wook"
[Financial News] Myung Tae-kyun, who is under suspicion of nomination intervention, has appeared once again at the Kim Gun-hee special prosecutor team (Min Jung-gi special prosecutor).
Mr. Myung reappeared on the 1st for the second summons investigation at the special prosecutor team located in KT Gwanghwamun Building West in Jung-gu, Seoul, following the previous day. Mr. Myung is a suspect under the charge of bribery.
Mr. Myung stated, "I am prepared to tell the special prosecutor all the suspicions the public has and to speak truthfully," adding, "I am preparing for the special prosecutor from a public standpoint rather than a private one. I am ready to reveal everything I know."
Regarding the reason for providing the contact information of Governor Park Wan-su of Gyeongnam to Mrs. Kim Gun-hee, Mr. Myung explained, "I will clarify if asked by the special prosecutor."
Regarding the nomination of former chief prosecutor Kim Sang-min, he said, "I heard from a certain member of the People Power Party that lawyer Seo Jung-wook recommended former chief prosecutor Kim."
Mr. Myung is suspected of having provided the results of public opinion polls to former President Yoon 81 times free of charge during the 2022 presidential election period and then soliciting the nomination of former lawmaker Kim in exchange during the same year's by-election for the National Assembly. The special prosecutor team conducted searches and summons investigations on lawmaker Yoon Sang-hyun, who was the chairman of the nomination management committee at the time, and it was confirmed that lawmaker Yoon testified that he received a call from former President Yoon during the investigation. The special prosecutor team notified former President Yoon of a summons investigation to confirm this, but former President Yoon did not comply, and an arrest warrant has been requested.
The special prosecutor team is expected to intensively question Mr. Myung about the 'nomination intervention suspicion' following the previous day. The special prosecutor team plans to examine △whether illegal public opinion poll results were provided free of charge to former President Yoon △whether former President Yoon was asked for former lawmaker Kim's nomination in exchange △whether money or other valuables were exchanged during the process of soliciting former lawmaker Kim's nomination.
