[Financial News] The special prosecutor team of Kim Kun-hee (Min Jung-gi special prosecutor) has once again launched a raid in connection with the 'Butler Gate'.
The special prosecutor team began a raid on the 1st from the morning on IMS Mobility (Be My Car) and HS Hyosung, as well as the residences of related persons. It is reported that the special prosecutor team is also conducting a raid on the residences of Kim Kun-hee's 'butler' Kim Ye-seong's spouse, Jeong Mo, and Cho Young-tak, CEO of IMS Mobility.
Due to this raid, the summoning of Cho Hyun-sang, Vice Chairman of HS Hyosung, scheduled for this day, has been postponed to the 4th.
The 'Butler Gate' suspicion centers on the fact that in 2023, companies invested in IMS Mobility (Be My Car), which Kim Kun-hee's 'butler' Mr. Kim participated in establishing, through Oasis Equity Partners. At that time, IMS Mobility was in a state of capital erosion with more liabilities than net assets, but received an investment of 18.4 billion won from companies including Shinhan Bank, Gyeongnam Steel, Kakao Mobility, HS Hyosung, and Korea Securities Finance. These companies were embroiled in various legal risks at the time, and it was revealed that Hyosung invested about 3.5 billion won in IMS Mobility.
Mr. Kim sold 4.6 billion won out of 18.4 billion won, and the special prosecutor team continues to investigate, believing that this money flowed to Ms. Kim.
