For Youth Preparing for Independence, Construction Technology Education, Psychological and Career Counseling
Hope Dream Builder is a social contribution program by HDC Hyundai Development Company that helps youth preparing for independence, including those who have aged out of foster care, to acquire construction technology and career skills for stable social integration. In a reality where about 2,600 children must start independent living when they turn 18 as protection measures end, the program aims to provide practical job training and field experience to help them find sustainable employment and achieve emotional stability.
In the previous 1st and 2nd batches, a total of 48 trainees participated, completing theoretical and practical education and undergoing internships at related institutions. Some of the 1st batch trainees are preparing for entrepreneurship after completing the education, and in the 2nd batch, practical skill training such as silicone construction, woodworking, tile and insulation repair was enhanced, significantly improving the trainees' job skills.
The 30 trainees selected for the Hope Dream Builder 3rd batch will attend theoretical and practical construction technology education at the HDC Symphony Technology Education Center in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, and receive practical independence support such as career and psychological counseling consultations at a professional counseling center. In this process, institutions such as Jibeuroganagil, Korea Housing Environment Research Institute, and Mind Space Psychological Counseling Center will support theoretical practice and career education. Especially, to boost the morale and entrepreneurial success of the Hope Dream Builder 3rd batch trainees, a residential repair vehicle will be provided from this month until December to support the practical deployment of outstanding trainees in the field.
An official from HDC Hyundai Development Company stated, "HDC Symphony Hope Dream Builder is not just vocational education, but a platform supporting youth independence," adding, "In addition to technical education, we help them explore their growth directions through career and psychological counseling, and after completion, we designed the program to help them establish themselves as confident members of society through entrepreneurship support." The official continued, "We will continue to expand the program to provide not only construction field internship opportunities as before but also to allow graduates to advance into various fields such as social welfare."
A participant in the HDC Symphony Hope Dream Builder 3rd batch expressed, "Hearing the success stories of senior graduates in entrepreneurship gave me the courage to believe I can do it too," adding, "Through this education and practice process, I will gain experience that can be used immediately in the field, identify my strengths, and prepare for entrepreneurship based on them."
