[Financial News] The Multifunctional Administrative City Construction Agency announced on the 31st that it has applied for the 'Preliminary Cultural Heritage Discovery' by the National Heritage Administration with 18 handprintings, including that of the late former President Roh Moo-hyun and other key figures.
The handprintings were created at the groundbreaking ceremony of the Happiness City held in July 2007, and include the handprints of 18 former and current figures who participated in the construction of Happiness City, including former President Roh and his wife.
The Happiness Agency considers this artifact to have great historical value as a symbol commemorating the start of Happiness City, created under the spirit of the era of balanced national development. It is particularly evaluated for its high potential for cultural utilization, as it contains direct traces of the figures and the unique format of handprinting can attract public interest.
Currently, about 900 artifacts related to Happiness City, including the handprintings, are entrusted and stored in the integrated repository of the National Museum Complex. The Happiness Agency plans to actively utilize these artifacts for exhibitions and content development if designated as preliminary cultural heritage.
Choi Hyung-wook, Director of the Facilities Project Bureau of the Happiness Agency, said, “Ahead of the full-scale promotion of the President's Sejong Office, we applied for the contest to share the historical value of former President Roh Moo-hyun's handprinting with the public,” adding, “We will continue to discover and expand the symbolism and value of the precious artifacts produced during the construction of Happiness City.”
