Special Prosecutor and One Prosecutor to be Sent for Forced Summons
[Financial News] The court has issued an arrest warrant for former President Yoon Seok-yeol, who has been refusing to comply with the summons investigation by the Kim Geon-hee special prosecutor team (Min Jung-gi special prosecutor).
The special prosecutor team announced on the 31st that an arrest warrant had been issued for former President Yoon, who is suspected of violating the Public Official Election Act. The special prosecutor team plans to dispatch one special prosecutor and one prosecutor to Seoul Detention Center to lead the guards and proceed with the forced summons of former President Yoon.
Former President Yoon did not appear for the summons investigation by the special prosecutor team on the 29th and 30th. The special prosecutor team immediately applied for an arrest warrant at the Seoul Central District Court when former President Yoon refused to attend the second summons investigation the previous day. Given that former President Yoon has already refused to appear twice, it is expected that he will continue to refuse to comply with the summons investigation.
The court seems to have accepted the special prosecutor team's argument and issued the arrest warrant.
However, former President Yoon is claiming mobility issues due to diabetes and visual restrictions due to an eye condition, raising attention on whether the forced summons will proceed. Especially, as former President Yoon is questioning the legitimacy of the special prosecutor, it is expected that he will maintain a stance of refusing to testify.
