[Financial News] The Ministry of SMEs and Startups announced on July 31 that it is recruiting SMEs to participate in the second phase of the overseas certification acquisition support project.
The overseas certification acquisition support project is a program that conditionally supports part of the costs incurred for certification, testing, and consulting required by export destination countries during the overseas expansion process of SMEs.
The certifications eligible for support include the European Union (EU)'s CE marking, the United States' Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL) certification, and China's National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) approval, among 546 types. Selected companies will receive support for 50-70% of the total costs based on their previous year's sales, up to a limit of 100 million won. Companies with sales under 10 billion won receive 70%, those between 10 billion and 30 billion won receive 60%, and those over 30 billion won receive 50%.
This recruitment of participating companies is the third of the year, following February and May (supplementary budget project), and aims to select and support about 200 companies. Each company can apply for up to four cases per year, but if the total annual application amount is less than 35 million won (small certification), there is no limit on the number of applications.
Lee Soon-bae, Director of Global Growth Policy, said, "This project is expected to significantly help reduce the burden on SMEs' global expansion, which has been exacerbated by the U.S. tariff policy, and to diversify export countries," adding, "We will continue to expand related policies to quickly respond to various types of export regulations that our SMEs face in the process of expanding their global economic territory."
The recruitment of participating companies is from August 1 to 29. Detailed information on business applications can be found on the Overseas Certification Acquisition Support Center website.
