Won two categories including Bronze and Special Awards at the Gifu International Rose Competition
Samsung C&T Resort Division announced on July 31 that the rose variety 'Pink Pastry', developed by Everland, won two categories, including Bronze and Special Awards, at the International Rose Competition held in Gifu Prefecture, Japan.
The Gifu International Rose Competition, now in its 23rd year, is a world-renowned rose contest officially certified by the World Federation of Rose Societies (WFRS) and hosted by Japan's World Rose Garden. Leading rose breeding companies from around the world, including David Austin from the UK, Delbard from France, and Kordes from Germany, participate in this competition every year.
This year's competition featured about 50 varieties of roses submitted from around the world, and the award-winning varieties were announced recently after a meticulous observation and judging process by experts over the past two years. As a result, Everland's rose variety, Pink Pastry, received high scores in a comprehensive evaluation of nine categories, including fragrance, disease resistance, continuous blooming, and vigor, winning the Bronze Award.
In addition, it also won the Rose Hill Award Special Prize, given to the rose with the best fragrance, achieving the glory of being a double winner. The award ceremony is scheduled to be held in October at the World Rose Garden in Gifu Prefecture, Japan.
Pink Pastry is a pink garden rose developed by Everland after five years of research since 2014, characterized by its sweet yet refreshing fragrance and petals layered like a pastry, hence the name 'Pink Pastry'.
This is not the first time Everland's rose has won an international competition. Starting with Garden Everscape (Silver and Special Awards) in 2021, Perfume Everscape (Gold and Special Awards in three categories) in 2022, Carnival Everscape (Bronze) in 2024, and this year's Pink Pastry (Bronze and Special Awards), a total of four varieties have won nine trophies, showcasing the excellence of K-Rose worldwide.
Ha Ho-su, a professional in charge of rose variety development at Everland, said, "I am delighted that Everland roses have continuously won at world-renowned rose competitions," adding, "We will continue to strive to promote the excellence of K-Rose both domestically and internationally." soup@fnnews.com Im Subin Reporter
