[Financial News] An organization that imported 14kg of drugs such as methamphetamine and ketamine from the Philippines and distributed them nationwide has been caught by the police.
Seoul Seocho Police Station announced on the 31st that they arrested 26 suspects, including the mastermind, involved in drug smuggling, transportation, and distribution from April to July, and detained 14 of them.
Investigation results showed that they smuggled 9.5kg of methamphetamine and ketamine from the Philippines and systematically distributed drugs nationwide. Three smugglers hid 5.5kg of methamphetamine and 4kg of ketamine in sunflower seed bags and smuggled them into the country in seven instances from March to May. The distributors operated in various regions such as the metropolitan area, Busan, Gwangju, and Daegu, secretly spreading drugs through social networking services (SNS) like Telegram.
A significant number of the arrested suspects were lured by recruitment schemes offering high-paying part-time jobs and were found to be habitual drug offenders.
The police arrested and charged the suspects involved in the systematic distribution of smuggled drugs, seizing 1.6kg of methamphetamine, 3.1kg of ketamine, 9.3kg of synthetic marijuana, and 401 ecstasy tablets, totaling 14kg of drugs.
A police official emphasized, "We have targeted the entire process of smuggling, transportation, and distribution by focusing on overseas smuggling routes, which are the root of domestic drug proliferation," and added, "We will continue to strongly crack down on drug offenders through international cooperation and collaboration with related agencies."
