[Financial News] Jusung Engineering's profitability temporarily declined as research and development (R&D) costs increased. However, performance improvement is expected after the second half of this year as the volume of equipment supplied to major domestic clients increases.
Jusung Engineering announced on the 31st that its preliminary results for the second quarter of this year showed sales of 78.8 billion KRW, a 19% decrease compared to the same period last year. During the same period, operating profit decreased by 82% to 6.6 billion KRW.
Jusung Engineering is strong in equipment such as Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD) that precisely coats necessary materials on semiconductor wafers. The major domestic client is SK Hynix.
A representative of Jusung Engineering explained, "Sales decreased as the sales proportion to overseas semiconductor clients decreased," and "Profit also decreased as R&D investment increased significantly to secure future growth engines." They added, "However, the sales proportion to major domestic clients increased."
Meanwhile, Jusung Engineering recently announced that it would invest 104.8 billion KRW to build the 'Jusung Yongin Second Research Institute'. The new research institute will be located near the existing Yongin R&D Center and is expected to be completed by June 2028 with a total floor area of 20,495 square meters.
