The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency announced on July 31 that it has signed a business agreement with Seoul City to eradicate illegal flyers.
This agreement was promoted to jointly respond to the damage to urban aesthetics and threats to citizen safety caused by flyers advertising obscene youth-harmful media, illegal drugs, debt collection, and more.
Based on the agreement, the two organizations plan to share information on phone numbers and areas where illegal flyers are heavily distributed, register these numbers in the "Daepo Killer" system and request telecom companies to suspend usage (within 1-2 days after registration), and conduct joint investigations through analysis of registered information.
The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency plans to share its experience from last year's planned investigation, which cracked down on a group distributing "Shirts Room" illegal flyers in the Gangnam area, along with related entertainment establishments and print shops, with Seoul City, and actively engage in joint investigations in the future.
Lee Jaeyoung, head of the Crime Prevention Response Division of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, said, "Eradicating illegal flyers is the starting point for establishing basic order," and added, "We will do our best to create a safe community for citizens' daily lives together with Seoul City."
